Keep the Vibes High & the Lineup Friendly

Surfing is all about good times and great waves, but it’s important to know the etiquette of the lineup to keep things safe and fun for everyone.

Respect the Right of Way

The surfer closest to the peak of the wave has priority. If someone is already riding the wave, don’t drop in – let them have their ride.

Don’t Snake

Snaking is when you paddle around another surfer to steal their spot in the lineup. It’s a sure way to get on the wrong side of your fellow surfers. Wait your turn!

Respect the Locals

Show respect to the local surfers who know the break best. A little courtesy goes a long way in keeping the good vibes rolling.

Keep Your Board Under Control

Ditching your board in crowded waters can be dangerous. Always hold on tight, and if you wipe out, cover your head and come up slowly.

Communicate

A quick shout or hand signal can avoid a collision when two surfers are paddling for the same wave. Let others know where you’re going!

Respect the Flags and Swimmers

Stay clear of flagged swimming areas and be mindful of swimmers, especially around the patrolled zones. The surf belongs to everyone – let’s share it safely.

Know Your Limits

If the waves look too big or the crowd too intense, it’s okay to sit one out. There’s no shame in watching and learning.

Help Others

Surfing is a community, so if you see someone in trouble, lend a hand. Look out for your fellow surfers.

Remember, the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun! Keep the vibes high, respect the lineup, and enjoy every wave!

Inspired by the Tummo Breathing Method, this practice combines hyper-oxygenation with periods of stillness. By consciously breathing, you may be able to influence your autonomic nervous system, alkalize your blood, and could strengthen your immune response.

Respect the Flags, Ride the Waves

Agnes Water’s Surf Life Savers are the heroes of the beach, keeping everyone safe in the water and on the sand.

Their job is to patrol the beach, watch over swimmers, and provide emergency assistance when needed.

Respect the Flags:
Always swim between the red and yellow flags – this is the safest spot for swimmers, where Surf Life Savers are watching. Surfers, keep clear of flagged areas and be mindful of swimmers, especially in busy zones.

Look Out for Swimmers:
Whether you’re paddling out or riding a wave, always keep an eye out for swimmers in the water. Share the surf with respect, and keep the beach a safe place for everyone.

Surf Life Savers are here to help, so give them a wave and a smile, and always play it safe!
